| As it is located between two stunning natural parks, Cortes is in the heart of excellent walking country. Three different supervised hiking routes are available from Los Almendros Activity Centre. All of our treks take between three and five hours and each takes in different aspects of the history and natural beauty of the area.
One of the routes visits El Paso Arab tower and the Casa de la Piedra Arab church, whilst taking in the panoramic views of the Guadiaro Valley.
Another more challenging route is the visit to “Los Pinos” mountain which is 1395 metres above sea level, this literally the high point of this day. You will see panoramic views of Guadiaro Valley and Gibraltar with Morroco beyond, we also visit the Libar flat-top mountain with the views from “Breña Oscura”.
The Angostura path from Benaojan station to Jimera station is a beautiful gentle walk located in Grazalema Natural Park which follows alongside the Guadiaro river. We will pass many Olives Groves and Encinares, (Mediterranean Oak), which is typical of this area. At the end of the walk we visit Artezuelas a karstic, (limestone springs ), and the famous La Salud church.
